Sagada: Let's Talk About Food

Okay, here’s the list of some of the restaurants we tried during our three-day trip.

After 15 butt-numbing hours, we finally arrived in Sagada! We haven’t eaten real food since we left Manila. We arrived exactly at noon, and we were just so hungry and tired from the trip that we all wanted was to have a nice lunch. It was such a good thing that restaurants were close together in the town proper.

I. YOGHURT HOUSE

Grabbed from my IG stories. And excuse my huge face. Haha!

Yoghurt House is just a short walk from Sagada Tourist Information Center. It was when we decided to take our lunch. Thank goodness, it was not jam-packed. We got a table on the second floor. At first, we were shocked at the price of their meals. It was a bit pricey, but dang, the moment our food arrived we were all nodding our heads and saying, “Sulit naman pala.” The serving size was just big enough, and it was delish! And their yogurt!! I was expecting a yogurt ice cream but what they offer here in Sagada was a pure one. It was really sour but so yummy. Best paired with Blueberry or other fruits. A must-try!

II. GAIA CAFE & CRAFTS

Gaia Cafe & Crafts is quite far from the town proper. We went there after we freshen up from our activities on our second day. It was around mid-afternoon when we got there and we were really starving. I honestly didn’t know that this cafe was featured in the hit film “That Thing Called Tadhana”. We also didn’t know what to expect in this cafe, so we didn’t know they only serve healthy vegetarian meals. We were really disappointed when we got our food. It’s not that it isn’t good, it was actually, but because we just finished physically challenging activities that day, we all wanted a scrumptious meaty meal. Good thing though that the serving size did suffice our hunger. I would’ve liked it here if only we were not craving for meat. Still recommended!

III. LEMON PIE HOUSE

Sagada doesn’t have any transportation service like tricycles, taxis, or jeepneys unless you avail of a transport service from the local guides or from the inns where you are booked. So be prepared to walk a lot in the neighborhood.

So we happened to pass by a lot of cafes and eateries. We only tried a few and Lemon Pie House was one of them. Of course, we tried their famous lemon pie and that was the only thing we bought because their egg pie was unavailable at that time. The lemon pie tasted okay to me. It was 3.5/5 stars. Nothing special, but you could at least try while you are around.

IV. SAGADA BREW

One thing not to expect in Sagada is for their coffee to be the same as Starbucks or any cafes in the urban jungle. Most cafes here didn’t have big machines and equipment so most only offered brewed coffee. But don’t worry, Sagada Brew offers a different variety of coffees, tea, frappes, other refreshments, desserts, and meals! Nice, huh?

All that we ordered tasted okay and were just too sweet. I was just disappointed with the service. It was slow, and the old lady behind the counter was a bit rude. So yea. They also offer other items for pasalubong.

V. ROCK INN AND CAFE

Rock Inn and Cafe is 2km before Sagada town proper. We were booked here for 3 days and 2 nights. I really recommend the place, since we really had an awesome overall experience here so you might enjoy it here too. The whole place was big, especially their restaurant, and the rooms were nice too. The only downside in this place is you can’t be too loud in your own room because their walls are paper thin.

Anyway, now let’s talk about the food! Everything we ordered was so delish. The prices were reasonable. The servings were big enough. And again, everything we ordered tasted really really good, to me. I just love it here. The staffs were all accommodating and friendly. Overall, it was 6/5 stars.

Random Shots

Just a random shot. Btw, there were tons of dogs roaming around the neighborhood. So be mindful. // Some of the hanging coffins from afar

The view from the back of Gaia

At the entrance of Rock Inn and Cafe. Nakapicture na lahat lahat. tulog pa rin siya. Haha!

Okay, that’s about it. Laters! ♡
