Victoria Peak and Airport Finds

,

Day 5 & 6 • September 29 – 30, Monday – Tuesday

On our last full day in Hong Kong, we were scheduled to visit Victoria Peak. Thank goodness we were able to reschedule, even though our tickets were non-refundable. It was originally booked for the day we arrived on the 24th, but our flight was cancelled due to the super typhoon. Under these circumstances, they allowed us to reschedule.

Anyway, I bought the tickets directly from the Peak website. I got the combo with the round-trip tram, Sky Terrace 428 single entry, and the MeiLok Experience Studio, skipping Madame Tussauds. We stayed there for about an hour and a half and spent some time browsing the shops. I also picked up some pasalubongs, along with a few nice stickers and postcards.

The commute to and from the Peak took more time than our actual stay. Still, the commute itself was a really nice experience for me since I love their metro system. Not so sure about the rest of the group, haha. But I cannot blame them, especially since it was also quite hot. I would have loved to wait for sunset at Sky Terrace 428, but the heat, bruh.

After that, we managed to find a nice restaurant near our place, and I finally got to have a proper bowl of beef noodle soup that I had been craving since we arrived in Hong Kong. I also found it a bit odd that they serve warm or hot water in almost every restaurant, especially since it was already hot and we were sweating. But yes, warm water does have its benefits.

After dinner, we went to a few shops near our accommodation to buy more pasalubongs. We did the same the next morning before checking out and commuting back to the airport.

We arrived at the airport at around 1 pm. I was looking forward to getting my passport stamped when we went through immigration, but everything was already high-tech. Everything was scanned and camera-based to enter, and the whole process was such a breeze. Our flight back home was not until around 7 pm, so we still had plenty of time to kill at the airport.

Can I just say, out of all the airports I have been to, Hong Kong is easily top tier. While at the airport, I came across a Tai On stall and bought a tote bag and a set of stickers, along with their lime americano, which was so good. I honestly should have bought another one, and maybe even tried their lychee black tea infusion, but I hesitated since everything was expensive.

Later, we came across the duty-free Le Labo store and ended up buying another bottle of Santal 33 for Asis as my birthday gift, along with their new lip balm product. We even got some freebie testers. Daaaamn, hurts my wallet. Lol. So yup, Asis and I already want to return since we did not get to properly roam around or try more authentic dishes. Not anytime soon, but definitely next time.
