Sunday in Hong Kong

Day 4 • September 28, Sunday

Day 4 had nothing planned in particular. It was basically our free day. Mamasie reached out to Tita Cherry, a cousin of Asis’ late father who works in Hong Kong, to see if we could meet up. Good thing it was Sunday, which is usually the day off for domestic workers there, and she was free too.

It was kind of overwhelming, really. Seeing so many Filipino workers all in one place was something I had only seen in movies. Experiencing it in person felt different. Filipinos doing whatever they can to lessen the burden of working abroad and being away from their families.

Anyway, we grabbed lunch and had coffee. We also got to ride the Hong Kong Tram, the Ding Ding, going to Causeway Bay. We spent the afternoon just strolling around. Asis came across a Le Labo perfume store. It was not really familiar to me, but we always see Another 13 online and got curious about how it smelled. There is nothing like this in malls and stores in the Philippines, so we got pretty excited when we saw the Le Labo store. It was definitely pricey, but I ended up buying a small bottle. I loved the scent. I also liked Santal 33. The box and label were customised, which made it feel extra special. We even got freebie testers. So happy with the purchase, even though my wallet was crying.

After that, we had to head back to Kowloon because Asis and I had tattoo appointments at Lagu Tattoo Place in San Po Kong, which was quite far. Tita Cherry accompanied us and even stayed for a while during the tattoo session. We got lost and confused a few times since there were so many stations, train lines, and transfers. We wanted to take her out for dinner, but our sessions were still not finished and she had to head back. Really grateful for her.

Anyway, I ended up getting two tattoos since I availed her promo. You get one of her designs and receive another one for free. We were starving afterwards and ended up eating at McDonald’s. I also saw a Mobile Softee van on the way back to our accommodation and could not help myself, so I got a cone. Lol

P.S. Aside from the Bakehouse egg tarts, everyone should also try Puffbake’s. It was flaky with a pleasantly crumbly texture, and we actually prefer it.
