SB19’s Simula At Wakas Kickoff Tour (Day 1)

May 31, Saturday

And I was back at the Philippine Arena, this time for SB19’s Simula at Wakas Kickoff Tour concert. I only bought a ticket for Day 1 since Sunday would’ve been tough (I always have work the next day), but now I kind of regret not going for Day 2 as well. If only I had the money and the luck to get one, I would’ve gone in a heartbeat.

Anyway, as I mentioned during my Taiwan trip, I actually struggled to get this ticket while Asis and I were there. I couldn’t get the OTP to my mobile number since I didn’t have roaming. After all the tries and long queues, I finally managed to score a center seat, just what I wanted. I also secured the V2 Elesbi lightstick just in time for the concert (thanks to my ever-supportive friend, Patti). She bought it for me because, as I also mentioned in my Batanes trip, it was nearly impossible to connect to the internet while we were island hopping. (Why do ticket sellings or releases always happen when I’m away? Lol.) The Acer Mintyladorses portable fan inspired by SB19 also arrived just before the concert, so I got to use it that hot humid day.

Anyway, back to the concert. I met up with my friend Iris and her daughter, Hope, before the show. We rented a car together, along with a few of Iris’ acquaintances who were also attending the concert. We got there around 3 PM, and Hope had a scheduled hair and makeup just for this event. It was so cute! After that, we lined up to enter the arena, but I eventually parted ways with them since we were seated in different sections. I lined up at the upper box queue for quite a while, only to realize later that my ticket was actually for the lower box. Hah! There was no line at all when I got to the lower box entrance. Oh well. By the way, there was also a section for sponsors and official fan groups distributing goodies. We skipped it because the queue was crazy, and I heard there weren’t any goodies left anyway. I also had stickers printed out to give away, but I was too shy to hand them out openly without drawing too much attention from other ATINs. So I just passed them out discreetly whenever I got the chance. I still have a lot left, though. I’ll just give them away at the homecoming concert. Yes, manifesting it already. I’m going to get concert tickets!

I have a lot to gush about, so I’ll just list down my favorite parts of the concert:

  • The stage was so nice!
  • One thing I also love about attending SB19 events is how diverse the crowd always is. They have such a wide range of fans — from kids to seniors, across all genders! It’s crazy, and I love it.
  • The concert freebies: a random photo card and the LED wristband. And other fans also gave away goodies! Everyone was so generous and nice.
  • Fans fashionable outfits
  • The sing-along karaoke session before the concert, just to hype the crowd.
  • The fan project where a plane flew around the concert grounds carrying a banner that said “The world is yours, SB19.”
  • The opening act! I got goosebumps. It was top-notch!
  • The song arrangements! As a person with bad memory, I forgot which song it was, but there was one where they switched parts, and I was so confused at first.. like, “wait, this was supposed to be sung by ..”, and the new rendition/arrangement of their other songs.
  • Mahalima did so great! Their vocals, their performances… just *chef’s kiss*! I also want to appreciate the entire team, production, and crew who made this concert so special. You could really feel all the effort they put into it.

I loved everything about the concert. It’s definitely part of my top three best concerts I’ve been to. I watched their Pagtatag before, but this one felt so different. They’re always improving. The concert was world-class, and I felt so happy and honoured to have witnessed and been part of this moment.

June 28, Saturday

Iris, Hope, Cherry, and I went to SB19’s immersive exhibit, Simula at Wakas Experience, at Gateway Mall 2.

It was such a fun and meaningful experience. The exhibit walked us through their journey, from their beginnings to where they are now. I loved how each area reflected their artistry and craft, every corner showed how much thought and creativity they put into their work. The VR performances were definitely my favorite part. Our scheduled songs for the day were Dungka and Quit, which I actually preferred over Time and Dam. It really felt like the boys were performing right in front of us.

We also got to see their memorabilia up close, like the costumes and props they used in their EP. It was amazing to see how their concepts turned into something real. You could really feel their passion, effort, and dedication in every detail.
