Another Day, Another Adventure

May 2, Friday

First stop of the day was Ngâm Coffee, just near our Airbnb, so we walked there. The café was big and super “estetik,” though I wish their coffee and pastries were as good as the place looked, and the cleanliness wasn’t great. Next, we went to Hầm Vũ Khí Bí Mật (Secret Weapon Cellar), which was nice to learn a bit about Vietnam’s history, and the entrance was free. After that, we headed to Chung cư Nguyễn Thiện Thuật because Asis wanted to check out the neighborhood and take some shots, but bruh, we walked all the way from the secret cellar to there. It was exhausting, and the heat didn’t help. Felt bad for Kaye since our “trip” plans were something else. Sorry, frenny. Haha!

Along the way, we had to stop at Phúc Long and iBoss Café just to sit and rest every now and then. We also searched for a local dessert spot nearby and found Chè Hiển Khánh. It was so interesting. They served traditional Vietnamese sweet soups with jellies, beans, and fruits, all topped with crushed ice, perfect for the hot weather.

Later, we went back near our district. Kaye had a nail appointment while Asis and I decided to visit Vinh Nghiem Buddhist Temple (Chùa Vĩnh Nghiêm), which was also close to our Airbnb. Since the Nhieu Loc River was nearby, we took a short walk to see it up close.

Around 17:00, we headed out again and had an early dinner at De Tham Restaurant (Vietnamese Cuisine & Vegetarian Food) since we were starving. The food was really good, and Asis especially enjoyed his DIY spring rolls. He even learned how to wrap them properly. After dinner, we walked to Central Market to window shop while Kaye looked for clothes for pasalubong.

After that, we passed by Bùi Viện Walking Street and it felt like stepping into a whole different world — neon lights everywhere, people all around, music blasting from every bar, dancers performing with little clothes on, and staff calling out to get people inside. It was wild, and we enjoyed it. Then we booked a Grab to The New Playground and Vincom Mall to check out more clothes and browse around, and we also grabbed some pasalubongs at the grocery store.

We only got home around 22:00, tired but happy from another packed day.
