Attended my last concert for the year. I’ve been wanting to watch Alamat perform live since I randomly stumbled on their songs on Spotify last year. Their sound is unique, with songs in different Filipino dialects, which I find really cool. There’s also a distinct vibe to their music—something that feels rooted in the sounds of the Philippines’ local ethnic groups.

Honestly, days before the concert, I still wasn’t familiar with their names or who’s who. I didn’t even try to memorize them until right before heading to the venue. I’m just a casual fan, after all. Anyway, the concert started quite late. Before the main event, they had games, gave out prizes from sponsors, and featured three P-pop groups as front acts, each performing two songs. By that time, I was really hoping for Alamat to start performing because it was almost past my bedtime. Lol. Kidding aside, I wish concerts here in the PH started in the afternoon. It’s such a pain to go home late at night. And as someone in her 30s, sleeping early is a must now. 🤭

Alamat was great! They sounded just like they do on their tracks, and contrary to what I’ve heard before (that they sound different live), they were actually really good. Each member even had their own solo performances, with some bringing out featured artists. It was a nice experience overall, except for these two girls two rows ahead of me. (Look at my photos below. They’re in all of them!) They were so inconsiderate, blocking our view the entire time because they weren’t sitting properly. I really wanted to ask them to sit right but didn’t want to spoil their fun. Instead, they ended up spoiling mine. Lol. I hate being nice sometimes. I just wish people were more considerate of others.

Anyway, Alamat also performed some unreleased songs. I haven’t gone back to listen to them yet, but I’ll probably do it once I’m back in the office next year. And that’s it—finally wrapping up my 2024 concert experience. This year has been the most concerts I’ve ever attended! Ever since I started going solo last year, I’ve kept at it, and honestly, I don’t mind being alone anymore. So cheers! Here’s to more concerts in 2025. Hopefully securing tickets easily, staying financially stable enough to afford them, having a proper ticketing system that’s fair for everyone, and finally seeing inside jobs and scalpers get the jail time they deserve. I also hope we get to have a lottery ticketing system someday.
