Day 2: Kawasan Canyoneering

, ,

Thursday, April 14th
The second day of our adventure trip in Cebu. Our call time was 8am so we were up an hour before our activity to prepare ourselves for the day.

I seriously wouldn’t mind waking up to this view. (Our view from our adjoining rooms in Matutinao Beach Resort)

Glad our breakfast was ready for us when we arrived at the main area of the resort. Lamon tas larga na!

Now we were all geared up and ready to go! Yep, had to wear a life vest (with a bottle of water and a Fudgee Bar inside the front pocket), aqua shoes, and a helmet on at all times for safety purposes. Also, they lent us their floaters for our GoPros. (Btw, wear leggings or tights to avoid getting scrapes and cuts.)

Off we go to the registration area and then to the starting point. YES! HABAL-HABAL AGAIN!! Don’t worry though, this one was just a short ride. When we arrived at the starting point, we said our prayer and asked for guidance before we carry on with our adventure. We really needed guidance and some balls to do this.

One thing I didn’t expect was we had to jump 10 or more feet at the beginning of this journey or else we couldn’t go anywhere else. So brace yourselves, overcome your fear of heights & jump! And expect the unexpected.

After the jump, you slowly move forward. You can now appreciate the view, the rocks, and everything around you while you float on your back and swim with the current. You will do more jumps, climbs, and slides along the way, jsyk. So you have to be prepared at all times. Also, don’t forget to bring money with you. Shame Asis and I forgot to bring some. Haha!

Here was the part where you had to run and then jump off the cliff. It’s up to you if you want to jump here or not. This is optional.

Anyway, this was the time when I fell the wrong way into the water. My chest, ribs, back, and even my crotch/butt (because of the vest) hurt badly after this jump. It was tolerable though but it started getting really uncomfortable along the way.

Group Shots

I grabbed some of these photos on Facebook thus the quality suckiness.

These photos were taken on a rented raft that goes under the falls. This part was both painful and at the same time refreshing. Painful due to the muscle pains that we all got from all the extreme jumps and other activities we did that we couldn’t take the impact of the raging water and yes, refreshing just because.

We were 10 in the group so we were required to have two tour guides. Grateful that the tour guides we had were funny and also, good at taking photos of us. Btw, they were the ones that suggested the round back float pose or whatever pose you call it. We actually had tons and tons of photos. We almost took selfies/groupies in every part of the Kawasan and were so thankful enough that our gadgets didn’t die on us.

So after the long, tiring, and body-aching journey, we finally reached Kawasan Falls. It was crowded when we got there and it was full of stores and food stalls. Very commercialized. (Which is kind of a bad and a good thing.) So yea. All in all, it was an experience of a lifetime. Definitely a must-do-things while you’re young and able.

I must say that this trip made me conquer and do things I thought I couldn’t do. It made me brave. Definitely worth it despite the back and rib pain I felt for two weeks!

Btw, after we finished our activities for the day. We were immediately off to Oslob, Cebu. It was almost a two-hour trip from Badian to Oslob. The private van we rented dropped us at our second home for the next two days which was the Malonzo Pension House.

So yea, here are the photos of us while chillin‘. Swooooriso. (ノ´ー`)ノ
