February 1, 2016 (Monday)
A day getaway was indeed a nice way to start our month right. Hello, February!
Destination: Tanay, Rizal This was actually an unplanned trip. We didn’t want our free day to go to waste, thus, our wanderlust kicked in. Here’s the outcome though (referring to the photos). So yea, we were off the road around 6am to avoid traffic and also, to make our trip worthwhile.

Daranak Falls

Tadahh! Arrived at Daranak Falls early in the morning with only a few people in the place (perks of arriving early). Here are the fees and whatnot for your future reference.

The water was freezing so you have to bring oil with you. Haha! Funny we didn’t have anything with us. We were unprepared. We didn’t even have food! Oh, the downfall of unplanned trips. Rest rooms here cost P5.00 per person, btw.
Batlag Falls

Here are the fees for the Batlag Falls. Yes, two falls in the same vicinity but different fees since it was a privately owned property. Free use of restrooms here in Batlag.

The water here was much cleaner and the place had this calming vibe that made the place more beautiful.
Asis and I only had one or two decent photos together because it was either my annoying sister or Andrei was always in the background, or our smiles and poses were too awkward. Meh. ┐( ̄ヮ ̄)┌
Calinawan Cave

We stopped by at this bridge for photo op on our way to Calinawan Cave. We also got a complete photo of us without using a monopod. Thanks to the oldest kid for this shot (referring to the photo of the kids).

Stalactite (You are not allowed to touch this and other remaining minerals inside the cave.)

We were famished after our activities and decided to eat here at Rambull’s located along the highway of Tanay, Rizal around 2pm. We also saw from afar the Pililla Windmills while we were waiting for our food to come.

Tadaaaah! Selfies with my better half. Btw, the wind blew off Asis’ cap while I was taking a photo on the bridge. That happened before that photo #1. Bye-bye cap. Now I owe him a new one. (≧◇≦)
The fee per person inside the cave was only P20.00 but you can’t go there inside without a tour guide with you so an additional P200.00 for that. The trip underground took us around 20-30mins. It differs if you want to stay longer to admire the beauty or take more selfies and photos.
It was beautiful inside but at the same time, creepy. There were only a few bats left inside but tons of bat holes on the ceiling and a few stalactites and stalagmites here and there. You can also see structures/rock formations of a face, a dinosaur, a rat, and even a virgin mary. There were also drawings on the walls made by those network and production crews that used to film here like Encantadia, Imortal, and other shows/movies. They even painted the walls and glued glitters, faked stars & stalactites on the walls. It was such a sad thing to see. Good thing they now forbid filming inside.
Anyway, our tour guide told us the history of the cave and at the same time, she became our photographer for our group shots. Haha! It was such a nice experience. Finally experienced spelunking. (ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧
You can continue further inside the cave but that would cost another round of fees. You can contact Joel Toledo if you have queries regarding Calinawan Cave: 0919456800 | 09362463735

Anyway, I got these weird red marks that looked like hickeys on my back after this trip. I don’t know where I got it, but thankfully, all is well now.
Last stop: Body Essence for a full body massage.
This day was so worth it despite me not feeling well during this trip. Tanay Rizal has definitely a lot to offer in terms of natural attractions. ♡
